The Happy Wanderers Camping Club organized at Oakwood Lake in September 1984, so that members may keep in touch with one another, help one another if there be a need, and provide camping and social activities for their family. The first meeting was held in the home of Roy and Althea Frank in October 1984. The original members were Neil and Arnesta Edwards, Roy and Althea Frank, Roy and Minnie Thompson, Jerry and Jean Wallace, Mary and Rudy Polk, and Goldman Moore. The elected officers were: Althea Frank, President; Minnie Thompson, Secretary; Jean Wallace, Treasurer; and Roy Frank Chaplain.
Today, the club is known as the Happy Wanderers RV Club. Our purpose, motto, flower, club colors, and club song are as follows:
PURPOSE: To travel, socialize and explore new ways of camping. The camping season starts in March and ends in October.
MOTTO: Togetherness in Love and Friendship
FLOWER: Blue and White Carnation
CLUB COLORS: Royal Blue and White
